About NWVA
Tom Simpson

NWVA is one of the oldest private equity firms in the Northwest. Since our founding in 1986, we have organized four partnerships with aggregate capital commitments of over $175 million.

Our investment activities are focused predominantly in three industries: information and business services, communications and consumer. We work alongside great entrepreneurs and managers to build valuable enterprises through internal growth, mergers and acquisitions. NWVA differentiates itself by seeking smaller businesses with exceptional growth potential, adhering to an investment strategy based on fundamentals and by working closely with our management teams. Through these efforts we generate superior returns for our investment partners.

Since inception, we have invested in over 40 companies in our targeted sectors, including several of the region’s most promising and successful businesses:

Front Porch Classics, a creator of innovative, handcrafted and timeless games for families and friends of all ages (now part of Sababa Group).

NetMotion Wireless, a provider of continuous, secure connectivity for wireless networking.

Packet Engines (sold to Alcatel) and World Wide Packets, both founded by the same entrepreneur, and offering innovative, next generation networking software and hardware solutions.

Pet’s Choice, a national chain of veterinary clinics and specialty hospitals (sold to VCA Antech).

Sur La Table, a multi-channel specialty retailer of top quality cookware and hard-to-find kitchen tools.

Tegic, the developer of T9, a rapid text input solution for mobile handsets (sold to AOL).

NWVA has two investment partners, two partners managing finance and administration and one venture partner.
